Greater
Strategic Focus
The best performing companies seem to focus their business in
areas where they can know more about the key processes in their
business than their competitors. Rather than taking whatever business
comes through the door, they use a number of tactics to enable
them to focus their resources on specific products, customer niches
or market needs. This often includes developing niche businesses
in which their teams gain expertise and experience not available
to unfocused competitors. It can also include using distributors
or service teams who focus on a certain kind of business, leveraging
their specialty knowledge to advantage. It may, in addition, be
linked to differential service that appeals to the special needs
or desires of a particular group of customers.
